Net High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?

Gus Hansen experienced a marvelous year on the WPT where he was the only participant to make it to the closing poker table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the largest pots in high stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus won a huge pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the strongest players around the world. While wagering on internet poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. Gus often participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus usually buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits for a good hand and then goes all-in. I believe Gus is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400no limit. Unless Gus is broke, he has no reason to sit at the game with the minimum buy-in.

Playing for the minimum takes a majority of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Hansen is presumed to be 1 of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the full dollar value. I think television can skew our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest poker players in the world might just be guys you have never heard about. Gus can be found betting on internet poker on Full Tilt. He usually plays in high stakes omaha/8 and texas hold’em. Gus has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his abilities in cash games?
