The Background of Poker Chips

Poker chips have been manufactured from a huge selection of materials in an almost infinite assortment of variations since the birth of betting and the requirement to keep track of winnings. The most commonly seen materials employed at present in the creation of new poker chips are plastic, clay, and acrylic composite. Clay chips, the original of the bunch, have been made in the US since the late 1800s.

Back in the 1800s, poker players appear to be using any small object with value you can imagine. Early poker enthusiasts sometimes used rough gold pieces as well as chips – mainly manufactured of wood and clay. By the 1900s, poker chip designs started to play a greater prominence, and the smooth sides of older chips gave way to chips with ridges to hold them neatly arranged together.

There is little or no debate that poker has gotten bigger steadily in appeal ever since its beginnings in the 19th century. With the explosive advancement of internet gaming and specialty television shows, community interest in poker has accelerated faster than ever before. Many individuals are first introduced to poker by TV showssuch as Bravo’s "Celebrity Poker Showdown" or "Poker After Dark," and many will bet on their first hands on the internet. Despite net poker’s rise, nothing competes with the feeling of holding heavy clay poker chips in your hand, tossing chips into the middle of a casino table, or stacking high pilesstacks of chips after displaying a victorious hand.
