Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover every little thing he could about the game. He routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the detrimental feedback from others destroy his goal of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.

Phil began competing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a learning opportunity and winning was not a normal outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he defeated a number of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his success to dedication and a continuing love for poker. He states that he is learning every single day and is quite humble about his success. He admits to making blunders every single game of poker and always strives to get better.

Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
