Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker contender on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning one. His papa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wished to discover everything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. Phil did not let the adverse feedback from others destroy his dream of being one of the best poker players on the planet.

He started playing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning was not a normal thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated many of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing love for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is very abashed about his success. He knows he makes errors in each game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big tournaments, he likes winning money games on a regular basis.
