Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker contender in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to pickup whatever he could about poker. He routinely would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the adverse comments from other people annihilate his ambition of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.
He began playing intently after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed a number of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal love for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making blunders every single game of poker and always strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
