Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker contender in the world by most of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandpa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover anything he possibly could about the game. He would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the adverse comments from others annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.
Phil began playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he defeated a number of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an undying love for the game of poker. He says that he is picking up skills every single day and is very humble about his success. Phil admits to making blunders every single session of poker and always aspires to improve.
Although Ivey has won some big tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
