Gus Hansen had a marvelous year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only participant to achieve closing game in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You might remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus secured a large pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the best gamblers in the world. While wagering on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He regularly plays in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of $40, 000. Hansen more often than not buys-in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He waits for a decent hand and then goes all-in. I accept that Hansen is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is broke, he has no reason to play at the table with the minimum buy in.

Buying in for the minimum takes most of the ability out of deep stack poker. Gus is supposed to be one of the greatest players in the world but he can’t buy in for the full dollar value. I believe television can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The best players in the world could be guys you have won’t have heard of. Gus can be seen gambling on internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally competes in high stakes omaha hi-low and Holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he use his skills in cash games?
